Here is the #1 simplest 'kid trick': Let's say the kid wants to look at kidieporn.com and the parent and every school and libray in town has that site blocked. So some other kid who has a computer on a DSL or cable connection set up what they cal a 'web proxy server' and then gets a free account on dyndns.org that reads 'eatallyourveggies.com' Now 'eatallyourveggies.com' can proxy for any number of 'bad sites'. This is actually very easy to do with free software that will run under Mac OSX.

(Apache makes a decent proxy and it is already installed on every Mac SOX machne) Most of it has a point and click interface. Word of these proxy sites gets out fast and if you try to block them 40 others spring up over night. Names of the proxies are passed around in chat rooms forums email list and wherever. In simpler english: Someone makes a site called 'good.com' by copying all the content from 'bad.com'. Parent blocks 'bad.com' but smart kid points brower to 'good.com' But blocking 'bad.com' makes ther parents feel good so you might as well.

(1) physically supervise the kid and watch him. (2) install home firewall that logs all access both comming and going. Periodically peruse the logs and look at the sites that are actualy visited. If you notice 'good.com' is loked at a lot look at it your self.

Help What you can do is download for mac and once you've downloaded and opened Firefox, click on this link for (in Firefox). After you download ProCon Latte it will appear under Tools on the top of your screen (your toobar when firefox is opened) and you can assign a password, add websites you want blocked etc. Just click on the tab that says Main Filter (once you have ProCon Latte open), check the box that says 'Enable Explicit Material Filter' then you can add or take away words/websites to be blocked.
