Guercio has a knack for making pitches start out as strikes and end up out of the strike zone. This causes Guercio to generate a great deal of swing and misses from opposing hitters. The Park Ridge, Illinois native currently leads the Sun Conference with 15 strikeouts.
Keys to The Batter's Box: The Fire have an electrifying offense that is able to manufacture runs all throughout the lineup. Thus far, the Fire have outscored opponents 30-6 with the majority of the runs coming in the third inning. And are both prototypical top of the order hitters.
Their ability to get on base sets the offense up for success. In the lead off slot, Blaha has posted a.385 average with a homerun and an on base percentage of.467. Stoltz, spending the majority of her time batting second, is hitting.625 with an on base percentage of.750. The Mishawaka native leads the team with four walks which plays a big factor in her on base percentage. Czech Republic: The Czech National Team is making the 5,070.36 mile trek all the way to Plant City, Florida where they will take on the Fire. The Czech national team was a part of the ISF (International Softball Federation) until a merger was formed to combine both ISF and IBF in 2013 to create the World Baseball Softball Confederation.
With this merger, the confederation spearhead the campaign for a return of softball and baseball into in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. However, the Warriors will return Hannah Foltz who had a solid season at the plate.
In her junior season, Foltz hit.305 with five homers and 29 RBIs. Caitlyn Walter will also be making the return for the Warriors. A freshman last year, the native of Lowell, Indiana hit.307 with 50 hits and 27 runs scored.
The Warriors are led by their new head coach Stephanie Zimmy. Zimmy previously served as the pitching coach at Kent State before taking the head job at Indiana Tech. Point University: The Skyhawks are led by head coach Jennifer Perkins Tyler who is in her sixth season at the helm.
A graduate of Trevecca Nazarene, Perkins Tyler led the team to a 28-27 record in the 2016 season. The Skyhawks will return their leading hitter from last year in Alexis Alayon. A native of West Point, Georgia, Alayon led collected 65 hits and posted a.365 average.

Defensively, Alayon was ranked 11 in all of the NAIA in assists with 135. Ryan Simpson will also be back for her sophomore season. In her inaugural season, Simpson posted a 2.96 ERA from the rubber in 177 innings of work.
She went on to tally 112 strikeouts and held opposing hitters to a.257 average. Middle Georgia State: After falling in a twinbill to University of South Carolina Beaufort, the Knights are looking to get back on track during the springbreaksoftball.com NAIA Weekend. Sabrina Doucette leads the offensive charge thus far for the Knights. In four games, the Darton State College transfer is hitting.462 with an on base percentage of.462 as well. Madison Bivins is another piece to the Knights' lineup that has been producing. With her 13 at bats, Bivins has notched five hits which is good for a.385 average. In the pitching department, the Knights are yet to get on track.
The staff combines for a 6.71 ERA surrendering 23 earned runs in 24 innings. Opposing batters are hitting.366 off of Knights pitchers and have racked up 41 hits.

Cumberland University: The Phoenix will see their first action of the season on Saturday, February 18th when they take on Ave Maria. Led by Heather Stanfill, the Phoenix posted a 15-31 record in the 2016 campaign. Returning for her sophomore season will be the Phoenix's leading hitter in Imani Torregano.
Softball Set For Mac 2017
As a freshman, Torregano hit.350 with 57 hits and 28 runs scored. She also led the team in stolen bases with 17. Coming back for her senior season will be Tessa Tomaselli.
The native of Torrance, California had a solid season at the plate hitting.323 with six homeruns and 21 RBIs. Closing Thoughts: The more games the Fire play, the more they will be shaped into mid-season form. While practice is a place to iron out minute flaws, there is no substitute for game speed. The Fire will be able to use these games to gain momentum as they advance further into the 2017 campaign.
